Badge terms
These terms govern the use of any badge issued by The Rug Registry. They are short on purpose.
Who may display a badge
Only the named business holding a current verification may display its badge. A badge is issued to one business for one verification record. It is not transferable to another company, another branch trading under a different name, a franchise, a parent company, or a successor owner without re-verification.
A business shown as Listed has no badge. There is nothing to display.
What you may not change
The badge must not be altered. That means no recolouring, cropping, stretching, rotating, re-typesetting, adding effects or shadows, overlaying text, or combining it with other marks so as to suggest a different status.
Do not reproduce the wording "Verified Rug Specialist" or "Verified Repair Specialist" as plain text styled to look like a badge. Use the supplied file.
The link is not optional
Every badge must link to the verification record for that business, in the form:
https://therugregistry.com/verify/[your-slug]/
A badge without that link is a claim with nothing behind it, which is the opposite of the point.
Alt text and anchor text must be the brand name and the badge name only — for example "The Rug Registry Verified Rug Specialist". Do not use keyword-rich anchor text such as a city plus a service. Google treats keyword-rich links distributed through widgets as a link scheme, and using one would risk your site as well as ours.
No hidden links. No tracking pixels. No JavaScript. The supplied embed is plain HTML and should stay that way.
Hotlink it
Serve the image from this domain rather than uploading a copy. If a verification lapses or is revoked, the file served from here changes to a neutral "Verification not current" mark, and your site updates with it. A local copy would leave a stale claim on your site that neither of us wants.
What the badge claims, and what it does not
A badge states that on the date recorded, we found published evidence that the business operates its own facility, washes rugs by immersion or in-plant method, handles fine rugs, and is located where it says it is.
It is not:
- a rating, score, ranking or award;
- a guarantee or warranty of workmanship, or of any particular outcome;
- an endorsement, a recommendation, or a statement about price;
- insurance, bonding, or proof of either;
- evidence of anything at all after the last-checked date shown on the record.
Displaying the badge has never been a condition of being listed or of being verified, and the badge is free. We do not charge for it and we will not.
Revocation and withdrawal
We may revoke a badge, and will do so when the conditions in how we verify are met — withdrawn evidence, closure, misuse of the badge, or a lapsed year.
Revoked and lapsed badges are replaced at source with a neutral mark. If you have uploaded a local copy, you must remove it on request.
Liability
The Rug Registry publishes evidence it has read. It does not perform the work, inspect premises, test results, handle your rug, or take part in any transaction between you and a business listed here. Nothing on this site creates a contract between us and either party, and we accept no liability for work carried out by a listed business.
Changes
We may change these terms. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to display a badge means accepting the terms as they stand.
