About The Rug Registry

The Rug Registry is an independent index of businesses that wash area rugs in their own facility. Established 2026.

Why it exists

Search for rug cleaning and you get carpet cleaners. The large home-services platforms file both trades under one heading, because from a lead-routing point of view they are the same category. From the point of view of someone holding a hand-knotted rug their grandmother brought back from Isfahan, they are not remotely the same category.

A rug specialist runs a plant. The rug leaves your house, gets dusted dry, is immersed in water, flushed, groomed and dried under controlled airflow, and comes back. A carpet cleaner works on fixed flooring, in place, with a wand. Both are real trades. Only one of them is right for a wool or silk rug, and there has been no consumer-facing way to tell which you are calling.

The trade associations maintain membership lists, but they are built for professionals and are not searchable in the way a homeowner needs. So: this.

How it is built

From two sources and no others — each business's own website, and public association membership pages. Nothing is taken from Google, Yelp, Thumbtack, Angi or BBB.

Every entry records where its information came from and the date we last confirmed it. Every "Verified" badge is backed by a record of four specific pieces of evidence, each with a link, published at a URL anyone can read. If we could not find evidence for a criterion, the entry says so rather than guessing.

We have not contacted any business listed here.

What we will not publish

No star ratings. No reviews. No scores. No invented phone numbers, addresses, certifications or years in business. No paid placement, ever — position on a page is verified-first, then alphabetical, and money cannot move it.

If you find something on this site that looks like a claim we could not support, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

How it is funded

Listings, verification and badges are free to businesses. The registry intends to earn its keep by passing quote requests to verified specialists. If that ever changes in a way that could affect what gets published, it will be stated plainly on this page before it happens, not after.
